Description
The Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) adopted the following amendment to SOLAS regulation II-2/10 regarding fire fighters’ communication: “For ships constructed on or after 1 July 2014, a minimum of two two-way portable radiotelephone apparatus for each fire party for fire-fighter's communication shall be carried on board. Those two-way portable radiotelephone apparatus shall be of an explosion-proof type or intrinsically safe. Ships constructed before 1 July 2014 shall comply with the requirements of this paragraph not later than the first survey after 1 July 2018." The JHS-431 is a 2 Watt UHF intrinsically safe transceiver designed for on-board communications in ship operations, loading/unloading, and mooring. The JHS-431’s intrinsically safe structure meets ATEX Directive 94/9/EC for use when transporting flammable, dangerous materials by Tanker, LPG carrier, LNG carrier and/or LO carrier, and meets above SOLAS amendment by MSC. 3 more communication channels can be installed as a pre-set option.
